In January 2025, the WA State Government announced that it would be promoting an increase in the Tree Canopy in Western Australia by offering a rebate of up to $150 for all Western Australian over 18 years old. The rebate opened on July 28 and there are only 10,000 rebates available so consider acting quickly. These spring rains won’t last forever.
To receive the rebate you must:
- Choose a native tree with a canopy that reaches at least three metres in height when mature.
- Have a photo of the plant label showing the scientific or common name to upload in your claim.
- Get a tax invoice as proof of purchase. You will need a valid tax invoice to claim your rebate.
They recommend using the ServiceWA app (that grew from the COVID era) for fastest, easiest results. They also accept submission of a paper form, but you must still identify yourself with 100 points of identification, and it will take 30 days to process.
For more information and access to the forms, visit the WA Treebate website provided by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation
