You can volunteer in many different ways depending on your availability.
Plant on your own verge and water it weekly for the first 2 summers. We are happy to provide advice and the tree. Our experience liaising with the Council can be very helpful.
Identify a local place (a park, bus stop or similar) that you think would benefit from some shade and commit to “adopting” these trees for the first 2 summers. We will provide the trees and liaise with council. We ask you to commit to watering once a week for the first 2 summers. If you are concerned about being away on holidays, talk to your neighbours about sharing the duties, or we may be able to provide backup for you. Think about places you already go to regularly: perhaps a sports park you take the kids every week? Or a spot on your usual drive to work.
Join our pool of volunteers: some just help out when others are away on holidays (as above), some join our POD watering roster (see below). We can put you in touch with others in your area.
Be part of our planting teams. Plantings tend to occur at the beginning of the rainy season. Many hands make light work and you can be involved in either big (approx 10-15 trees) or small (1-2 trees) projects.
Be part of our watering pod roster over the summer months. Our pod waters about 40 trees each week. The trailer is used for rounds on Tuesdays and Saturdays which take 1-2 hours. Each team consists of a waterer and driver (BYO vehicle with trailer hitch). You can volunteer as much or as little as you want: you can commit to weekly, fortnightly or monthly watering duties to fit around your summer plans.
